A Hummer that Gets 60MPG??

Detroit claims that would be impossible. But they whine every time something new comes along. They whined about seatbelts and other safety requirements, saying that it would be too expensive.

Now here is a guy who is actually making Hummers get 60MPG with twice the horsepower of the stock models. Read about the Motorhead Messiah. He is doing some amazing things.

And of course the article also points out what a piece of crap the Hummer is anyway as his new stock Hummer required repair three times on his 200 mile trip home from the showroom floor.

Fedora Frog Version 1.0-8.0.0 Released

Published by David Both under Linux

This update to Fedora Frog Adds support for Fedora 8. It also removes support for Fedora Core 6 and Fedora Core 7.

Support for additional packages has also been enhanced, including:

  • mc Midnight Commander file manager
  • GNUCash financial software
  • Kaffeine multimedia player

Fedora Frog provides the Linux administrator an easy way to install applications not installed by default during a Fedora Core installation procedure, and applications that are not part of the standard distribution. It also tweaks some configuration items. Additional repositories are required beyond the normal Core, Updates, and Extras, and they can be added using Fedora Frog as well.

Fedora Frog 1.0-8.0.1 is available from SourceForge at:

I have installed Fedora 8 on two of my computers. One installation and one upgrade went quite well and I like Fedora 8 a lot.

Read more about my experiences.

Birthday Surprise for Alice

Published by David Both under Family

Alice’s birthday was yesterday and I planned a very special surprise party for her. We went to Angus Barn for dinner and (by previous planning) were told that our table was not ready and were asked if we would like a tour of their famous wine cellar. Of course I said yes.

When we got down to the Wine Cellar dining room, all of her sisters, my mother, and some friends of ours from church were there to yell “surprise!” The whole thing was a total surprise and she was shocked to see her family and everyone else there. It is unusual to be able to get here sisters all together in one place as they are scattered over the Eastern U.S.

We all had a great evening. Of course the food was incredible as it always is at Angus Barn.
