What are WE Doing to Conserve?
In light of the fact that I am reporting water conservation violators, I thought it might be a good idea to let you know what we are doing to conserve.
- I have only watered a few spots of new grass (zoysia which is drought resistant) on my lawn one time early in spring 2007. We decided early on that we would not water the “lawn.”
- Cut our time in the showers to under half of what it was.
- Reduced the water flow rate while in the showers.
- Placed buckets and bowls in the showers and kitchen to catch grey water and reuse it for watering indoor plants, flushing toilets and rinsing dirty dishes before they go into the dishwasher.
- If it’s yellow, that’s mellow; If it’s brown, flush it down.
Update 04/20/2008
As of our February-March, 2008 water bill we are down to 24 gallons per person per month. One gallon per person under the city goal of 25 gallons per person per month.
