I see lots of posts on Mastodon and BlueSky talking about what to do next and a large number are considering Linux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So we here at Both.org want to help those people understand their Linux options and ease their fears at making the switch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So we&#8217;re calling for articles that would answer the following questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How do I choose a Linux distro?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What&#8217;s the best Linux distro for me?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How can I try Linux?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>My computer is X years old. Will Linux work on it?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I use X software on Windows. Can I use it on Linux?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I use X software on Windows. What Linux software can I use to replace it?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Will my computer run Linux?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Can I use my existing data on Linux?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What are the best Linux distros for new users?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What Linux distros should a new user avoid?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I need X special hardware. Is it supported by Linux?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Can I buy a computer that already has Linux on it?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where can I get help with Linux?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do I have to use the Linux command line?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do I need to be a programmer to use Linux?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where can I get more information about Linux?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Why are Linux geeks on social media so anti-social?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What&#8217;s the easiest Linux distro to learn?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What&#8217;s a distro?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Why are there so many distros?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How does switching to Linux on my old computer help the planet?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Why should I care about Linux when I can just go buy a new computer with Win11 on it?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How much does Linux cost? <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is all open source software free?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2026and probably about a bazillion more questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some suggestions that aren&#8217;t really questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>My story about getting started with Linux. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Friends helping friends getting started with Linux.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How I got help from my local Linux User Group.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Why I switched to Linux.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How I chose the right distro for me.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Why I just can&#8217;t switch to Linux right now.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I should have switched to Linux sooner.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Five reasons I switched to Linux.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Why I&#8217;m happy I switched to Linux.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The one thing that convinced me to switch to Linux.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>So please pick one (or more) and let us know what you plan to write. And don&#8217;t worry if you select the same questions as someone else because you do have a different viewpoint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We look forward to seeing your articles.
