End of 10 event success
This past Saturday, September 20, the Triangle Linux Users Group (TriLUG) held an installfest. We had some good success despite the short time-frame we had to prepare and advertise.
Several interested people showed up and attended a short presentation about Linux, what it is, and what it isn’t. The attendees asked some excellent questions and showed a high level of interest.
Most of those people stayed to try Linux Mint on the laptops they brought with them.
One who already knew about Linux and who had used Ubuntu, brought three laptops and tested Linux mint on those. Another person was overheard saying that Linux Mint booted much faster on her laptop than Windows — despite the fact it was running from the Live USB drive.
I don’t know the final count, but some of those laptops went home with Linux Mint installed. Their owners also left with signed copies of the book I co-authored with Cyndi Bulka, “Linux for Small Business Owners.”
Unfortunately, I neglected to take pictures.
At the moment, we’re looking at having another End of 10 installfest in the spring of 2026. I’m also hoping to schedule one sooner than that.
